Quick Scoring Tip

I’d like to share this quick scoring tip that will take endless frustration out of your scoring. I live in Colorado and the air here is VERY dry. This dries out my paper and leaves my stylus with static electricity. This makes my stylus “jump” or “skip” to another scoring channel on my Simply Scored Scoreboard.

Quick Scoring Tip

How frustrating, when you’re right in the middle of a project! You’ve done most of your score lines and on the final one, your stylus jumps to the wrong channel. Ugh!

This technique works with any scoring tool with a score board and stylus, not just Stampin’ Up!’s Simply Scored Scoreboard.

All you need is a candle or some type of hard wax. Here I’m using Bees wax, but I regularly use a votive candle in my classes.

Quick scoring tip

Rub your stylus in the wax and go about your scoring. It is that simple. Your stylus will run down the channel with ease and will be much less likely to jump to the wrong channel.

You may need to rub your stylus in the wax several times while you’re scoring, depending on how dry your environment is and how much scoring your project requires. There is no need to rub it after every score. You can score several times in between rubbing your stylus in the wax.
