Creating the Poinsettia for the Front of the Card

Die cut all three sizes of poinsettia petals in Real Red. When you die cut these, make sure you also use the embossing pieces so you get the leaf embossing.

Check out this blog post on how to do this in one easy step!

Once you have your pieces die cut, your next step is to shape and add bling. You always want to add bling!

To start shaping your poinsettia petals, take your bone folder and gently run the petal between the bone folder and your thumb. Make certain you are holding the petal with your other hand and not the center of the flower. If you hold it at the center of the flower, you are more likely to rip the petal off.

Once you have all the petals shaped, use your clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to brush on your bling.

If your brush is new, click here for info on using your Wink of Stella.

Assembling the Oval

Once you’ve blinged up your petals, assemble your poinsettia and add your pearls. Set this aside while we assemble the ovals.

Using dimensionals, attach the Very Vanilla oval to the scalloped Real Red Oval. Once you have these together, attach your poinsettia. After the poinsettia is in place, add glue to the tips of the leaves and slide them under the poinsettia. Add your sprig as well.

When placing your leaves, make sure you have anything hanging off the oval to the right side and not the left. The oval will set to the left side of the card and there will be very little space for anything to hang off the left side.

Set your oval aside while we assemble the base of the poinsettia split card.

Assembling the Base

Grab the remainder of your pieces of cardstock and patterned paper. You should have 2 pieces of each left. You’ll need the Very Vanilla pieces next. Find the sentiment “Happy Holidays” from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set and mount it. Next Fold and burnish your card base and lay the 2 x 4¼ piece along the bottom of the card so it is flush with the back of the card. Stamp the sentiment in the window between the two front pieces onto the back inside of the card so it shows through. It should be stamped to the right side of the card.

Next, layer the Real Red and the patterned paper onto the top and bottom piece of Very Vanilla. One will go directly onto the card base and the other will go onto the
2 x 4¼ piece.

Add adhesive to the top and bottom only of the back of the oval. Place this onto the top and bottom piece of the split card base, making sure you line up the bottom piece with the back of the card base.
