Stamping and Coloring

Dragonfly

First stamp one of the large dragonflies onto a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock in Blackberry Bliss and punch it out. Glitter up the wings with Wink of Stella. The ink will smudge a bit, but that is the look we’re going for. We want a glittery translucent look. Next punch the little dragonfly out of a scrap piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock. Use Wink of Stella on this one, as well. Set aside.

Stamp the flowers onto the scalloped stitched rectangle of Basic White with Memento Black ink. Color the flowers with watercolor pencils. Blend out the pencil marks with the blending pen.

Stamp the smaller of the two remaining pieces of Basic White cardstock with the butterflies and your sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink. This is the inside of the card. Use Wink of Stella to glitter up the butterflies here, as well. All your stamping is complete. Once the Wink of Stella is dry, you can adhere this piece to the inside of the card base.

Assembly

Dragonfly Garden Card

Layer the remaining pieces onto the card base in this order: Basic White cardstock, centered; Designer Series Paper, to the right; Stitched rectangle, to the left; Stitched scalloped rectangle, centered on the stitched rectangle.

Dragonfly Garden Card

Prior to attaching the dragonflies, you’ll want to give their wings some dimension. Using your bone folder, curl the wings gently so they aren’t quite so flat.

Add dimensionals to the body of the larger of the dragonflies and adhere it to the front of the card. Add adhesive to the smaller dragonfly and adhere it, as well.

Your Dragonfly Garden Card is complete. Check out other tutorials featuring dragonflies here.
