Stamping on Candles

Stamping on Candles

Hi everyone. Today, you’re going to learn about stamping on candles. This is a technique I taught many years ago, before I had a blog. You can easily make candles to match the time of year, or your decor. This is the perfect technique to add style to your home.

Supplies Needed

  • Light colored candle. It can be a pillar candle, a votive candle, or a taper candle. You can use scented or unscented candles. Any light colored candle will work.
  • Stamps. Use whatever stamps you wish!
  • Memento Black ink pad
  • Blends Marker (or another alcohol based marker.
  • Heat Gun
  • Wax Paper
  • Tissue Paper (like the kind you use for wrapping gifts)

I’m not going to link anything to a specific Stampin’ Up! page as the stamp set I used here is a retired set. Use whatever set will match your decor or the holiday season you’re making the candle for. This is a perfect house warming gift, teacher gift, or holiday gift. Instructions

Lay your tissue paper on a scrap sheet or grid sheet. Stamp your image and color it. Use your heat gun in between each step to ensure all the ink is dry. It bleeds less this way. Once you have your image or images stamped and colored on the tissue paper, roughly cut it out. You don’t have to cut as neatly as a true fussy cut.

Wrap the stamped image flat onto the candle. Use a piece of wax paper to wrap the candle/image tightly. Make sure there are no wrinkles. Heat the image. Carefully unwrap the candle. Your image should have melted to the candle. If there are areas that didn’t melt into the candle, use a clean spot on the wax paper and repeat the melting process.
