Instructions
Card Base
Take your large piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock. That is your card base. Fold the card base on the score line and attach the largest piece of Cajun Craze to the inside of the card.
Next you can attach the Plaid tidings piece to its corresponding mat layer and attach this to the outside front flap of the card base.
Set the card base aside for the time being. We’ll come back to this in a bit.
Fun Fold Inner Card
The biggest thing to remember about this piece of the card is that it OPENS BACKWARD! It opens on the left not on the right as we are used to. If you place your elements the way we are used to everything will be upside down.
With the piece of Blackberry Bliss that is 8 x 2¾, fold this in half at the score line and burnish it. Remember the opening should be on the left. Set this aside.
Stamping
We will be stamping on the two pieces of Very Vanilla Cardstock. The smaller piece is the piece for the front of the card. Stamp the log cabin in Early Espresso on this piece. The larger piece is the inside piece. Stamp your sentiment on here. I chose the sentiment by A. A. Milne. “You are Braver and you believe, Stronger than you seem, Smarter than you think, and Loved more than you know. I absolutely love that sentiment!
Once you’ve stamped your cabin and sentiment, stamp the pine boughs with Pear Pizzazz ink. I stamped off first then stamped second and third generation images so they would fade into the background and not overpower my sentiment.
Coloring
Use the watercolor pencils to color the log cabin. I used Early Espresso for the log cabin, Cajun Craze for the roof, Basic Black and Basic Gray for the stones, Old Olive for the trees and grass, and Bermuda Bay for the sky.
Once I had everything colored in, I smoothed all the pencil lines with a Blender Pen. These work wonderful with our watercolor pencils. It really brightens up the colors and blends out any areas you may have missed in your coloring.
Assembly
Once your coloring is complete, attach your cabin onto the corresponding Cajun Craze Mat layer. Remembering that your inner card opens to the left, attach these to the front of the inner card. Open the inner card and attach the sentiment to the inside.
Next, place adhesive on the back of the inner card and center it over the inside of the card base. Don’t place it down until you are in position. Part of the inner card should be above the top of the card base and part of it should be inside the card.
The final step to complete the card is to put a brad or piece of embellishment on a dimensional next to the inner card. Make sure this only barely touches the inner card. You don’t want it to overlap too much so it holds everything down permanently, just enough to hold it down so the card won’t pop open.
