How do you make a bow using a fork or a comb? It’s not very hard. It is actually pretty easy to make a fork bow. All you need is a length of ribbon and a plastic or metal fork.
Making a Bow
Holding the fork in your left hand, take your length of ribbon and lay it atop your fork. Leave a few inches of a “tail” hanging below the fork as you begin. You’ll need this “tail” later, so you want enough length to be able to manipulate it. Run the other end of the ribbon up the front of the fork and over the top, then down the back of the fork.
Then, bring the ribbon forward through the middle between the middle tines. Keep going down the front of the fork, then under the bottom and around the back and up. As you come up, bring the ribbon back to the front through between the same middle tines again.
Make sure you’re holding everything tight with your left thumb and fingers. If you let it loose, you’ll have to start over.
Once you’ve brought your ribbon forward through the middle tines, you want to cross the ribbon all the way over all your ribbon loops to the left side of the fork. Then feed it down to the back of the fork through the middle tines. Be sure to keep holding everything tight on your fork.
Hold everything on the back tight with your left fingers and pick up the original “tail” we left when we started. Feed this to the outside (right side in the pictures) of the middle tines and feed to the back. Turn the fork over and tie a half knot. Lastly, slip the bow off the fork and adjust it.
