Cookie Box

cookie box

Hi everyone, I recently participated in a craft show and needed a box for cookies I had made. So, I came up with this cookie box. This box is a great size for lots of things, not just cookies. But it was also a huge hit with the craft show. People loved that they got a decorated box with cookies that they could give as a gift. This cookie box uses a single sheet of cardstock and has a see through window in the top. And since the craft show was right before Mother’s Day, It was perfect!

Let’s get started on making one.

Supplies

Instructions

Score the long side of the cardstock at 1½, 5, 6½, and 10″, Turn the cardstock counter clockwise so the 10″ score line is at the top of the scoreboard and score the short side at ½ and 7¾ only to the second score line. Then score at 1½ and 6¾” all the way down.

Cut away the two partial score lines and cut the rest as shown in this image.

I made many of these boxes and found it easiest to cut the window out with a chipboard template and an exacto knife. To make the template, cut a piece of chipboard in the size you want. Attach to the inside top of the box with removable adhesive. Cut around the chipboard with an exacto knife to make your window. Remove the chipboard.

Using a strong adhesive, glue your window acetate to the inside of your box top. Let that adhesive dry.

While it is drying, you can stamp your flower and color it. Punch out your leaves and sprigs and stamp your sentiment. Get all the pieces ready for decorating your box.

Assembly

Adhere the tabs for the bottom of the box together first. When you adhere these tabs, make sure you are making crisp 90 degree angles with the corners of your box. If your box isn’t square, it will show in the final product.

A tip to making crisp corners is to make sure you have burnished your corners well with a bone folder.

Lastly, adhere the top together. To ensure the top closes over the bottom and closes well, fold the tabs over the bottom of the box and adhere the front onto the tabs while the box is closed. This will ensure the top fits over the bottom of the box.

Decorate the Cookie Box

Two final steps are to decorate and fill the box with goodies. Take the flower you stamped and colored and place it on the box in one corner. Place the sentiment in the other. Add leaves or sprigs around the flower and you’re done!
