How Do I Know When I Need to Re-Ink My Stamp Pads?
You know you need to re-ink your Stampin’ Up! stamp pads when you try to ink up a stamp and the image is very light or non-existent. When you ink up a stamp, you should get a rich, consistent color when you stamp. If you don’t, you might need to re-ink your pad. How do you re-ink your stamp pad, you ask? Well, I’ll tell you.
How Do I Re-ink My Stampin’ Up! Stamp Pads?
First, anytime I buy a stamp pad from Stampin’ Up!, I buy the re-inker, at the same time. This way, I can keep my stamp pads inked and in perfect shape much longer. Otherwise, my stamp pad would be used up in less than a year. In a dry, arid climate, the stamp pads dry out much quicker than in a humid climate. But they will dry out eventually.
Once I have my stamp pad and re-inker out, I add drops of re-inker all over the stamp pad. Depending on how dried out the pad is, I add a few drops to many. You want enough ink to cover the pad, but you don’t want so much ink that your pad is saturated. This will make your stamped images blurry.
Spreading Out the Ink
Once you’ve placed your droplets of ink on the pad, now is the time to spread the ink out over the pad. Take a flat item, such as an old gift card, bone folder, or maybe your acrylic block and spread the ink droplets out over the surface of the ink pad. After you do this, the ideal situation is to let the pad “settle” for about 24 hours. This time, will allow the ink to evenly spread out over the entire ink pad and you’ll get a much more even stamped image.
