Today we’ll make this beautiful Prized Peony card with the Prized Peony Bundle from Stampin’ Up! I’ll also show you how to put the peony together using the Peony Dies.
When first looking at the Peony dies, they can look a bit daunting. But once you’ve worked with them, they’re actually pretty easy to sort out.

Sorting Out the Peony Dies
The Peony Dies come with 17 dies. That’s a ton of dies. Five of the dies cut out images in the Prized Peony Stamp Set. The other 11 dies are for the peony. Pictured at the right are the 11 used in building the peony along with its leaves and floral center. The key thing to look for are the shapes along the bottoms of the flower parts. They all have similar shapes and these are the areas you line up when assembling the flower. (See the purple shapes in the photo.) The same goes for the leaves. Look for the edge of the leaves and the leaf shadows.
I’ve found it is easiest to assemble the flower from the smallest piece to the largest piece. Before beginning any assembly, do any shading of the flower pieces and shaping of the petals you want to do. Once this is complete, you can start assembling the flower.
Assembling the Prized Peony
Begin assembly with the smallest and second smallest flower piece. You will need to place adhesive on the front of the smallest piece and slide it into the center slit of the next larger piece. Line up the bottoms where the cut outs match and adhere down.
Repeat the same process with the next piece, placing the first two pieces into the center of the next.
The final piece is a bit different. You’ll need to place glue dots on the BACK of the largest piece below the slit because there isn’t enough room to hide a line of adhesive on the smaller piece. Slide the smaller pieces in like before and adhere them down.
Lastly, you’ll place the center of the flower. Count up 4 petals from the bottom. Between the 4th and 5th petals is where you’ll place the floral center. Place some adhesive on the pointed end of the center and slide it into the slot between the 4th and 5th petals.
Assembling the Prized Peony Card
Stamp the sentiment in the lower left corner of the smaller of the Whisper White pieces, making sure you are low enough that it won’t infringe on the foil sheet. Emboss the foil sheet with your embossing machine. Adhere the Whisper White sheet you just stamped on on the Petal Pink mat. Adhere these to the Merry Merlot card base. Place the foil paper onto the white piece. Next, assemble the flower onto the foil piece. Shape the leaves and tuck them under the flower. You’re done! You’ve created the Prized Peony Card!
