Forever Blossoms Tufted Card

Hi everyone. Today we’re making a tufted card using the Stampin’ Up! Forever Blossoms stamp set. The scoring and sponging gives this card its unique 3D tufting effect. The Cherry Blossoms are perfect for a spring card. Making this Forever Blossoms Tufted Card was so much fun. I hope you have fun making it, too. I hope this step-by-step tutorial helps you make this gorgeous card!

Supplies Needed

Cardstock and ink

Stamp Sets

The first step is to stamp the Cherry Blossoms onto one of the Whisper White (WW) pieces of cardstock. You need to stamp in up the left side of the cardstock, leaving the right side empty. That is where we’ll put our sentiment. While you are stamping, take the other piece of WW cardstock and stamp some of the flowers in the lower right corner. This will be your inside piece. You can also take your scrap piece of WW and stamp your “smile” sentiment. Let all these dry thoroughly. Blackberry bliss ink tends to smudge easily. So giving them time to dry or using your heat tool to dry them is essential. Otherwise, you won’t be happy with your results.

Scoring

Scoring forever blossoms tufted card

Before you score any lines, you’ll need to mark the sides of your card. These are the spots you’ll line up to score. I would recommend using the trimmer rather than the scoreboard. The trimmer is easier to line up in this project. Using a stylus, place a divot/mark at 2″ along the top of the card front. Next, turn your card on its side with the top facing left. Make a mark at the 2 and 4″ spot on both sides. Place your card front at the bottom of the trimmer and place a mark at 1¼ and 3¼”.

Now, line up your card front as shown in the picture from the 2″ mark on the top of the card to the 2″ mark on the right side of the card. Score. Score from the upper left corner to the 4″ mark. The third scoreline is from the 2″ mark on the left side of the card to the 3¼” spot, and the last one in this direction is from the 4″ mark to the 1¼” mark. All your lines should be parallel. This is how you’ll know if you’ve done this correctly.

You need to make 2 more divots along the bottom of the card. To do this, turn your card front up side down and make a mark at the 2¼ and 3¼” spots. Now, you need to repeat your scoring, only in the opposite direction. Score from the 2″ top to the 2″ left side. Then from the corner to the 4″ left side. The last two are from the 2 and 4″ on the right side to the 3¼ and 1¼” spots respectively. This completes the scoring! You’ve done it!

Mask

Sponging the forever blossoms tufted card

Remember that small piece of cardstock of any color in the supplies list? Here is where we need it. You need to mark it the same way and score it the same way you did your card front. Then, cut out one of the squares. This will be your sponging mask.

Sponging

Place your sponging mask over one of the diamonds on your card front. With a sponge and some Smokey Slate ink, sponge ink darker toward the bottom of the diamond and lighter as you go up. You want it to fade to white before you are halfway up the diamond. Do this with all the diamonds on the card front.

The Sentiment

You already stamped the “smile” sentiment earlier. Punch it out with the Story Label Punch. Next, punch out 2 more punch outs in Blackberry Bliss. With these two, you’ll cut one in half length-wise and one in half the other way. The latter one, you’ll want to cut down the sides sticking out so they won’t show when you attach them. First, attach the long ones under the sentiment, leaving a small mat layer. Next, attach the ones with the rounded ends on the ends, leaving the same amount of mat layer showing.

Finishing Touches

For the finishing touches to the card, use some Wink Of Stella on the centers of the flowers. This adds a touch of glitter to just the centers of the flowers. I also added pearls to the centers of each flower and under the sentiment.

Assembly

Assemble the card by attaching the tufted card front to the Basic Black mat. Then adhere those to the card base. Attach the sentiment by placing dimensionals on the back and placing it in an open area of the card. Don’t forget to put the inside together, as well.

Forever Blossoms Tufted Card Complete

Once you’ve adhered the inside piece to the inside of the card base, you’ve completed your Forever Blossoms Tufted Card! Congratulations!
