- Stylus
- 8 x 8″ piece of cardstock
- 8½ x ¾” strip of cardstock for handle
- Items to decorate the basket
- Easter Grass and items to fill the basket
Instructions
Scoring
To make this cute little Easter Basket, take the 8×8” cardstock (I used Daffodil Delight Cardstock from Stampin’ Up) and place it on the envelope punch board at the 2” mark. Score and punch. Turn the cardstock ¼ turn and repeat. Repeat on all sides. Turn cardstock over to backside. Line up again at the 2” mark. Punch and finish any score lines. Do this to all 4 sides again. You should have 2 punches on each side and 4 score lines, 2 each perpendicular to each other. Next, line up the pointer on one end with the right most score line and score. Do this again to the opposite side. You only do this to 2 opposite sides. Fold and burnish all score lines.
If you don’t own an envelope punch board, you can still make this project. You still need the 8×8″ sheet of cardstock. Next make a mark at 1 5/8″ with a ruler and pencil from each corner. Then line up two marks on the trimmer and score them to get the same tic-tac-toe pattern on your paper as you see above. You won’t have the cut outs, but this will work just as well. The next step is to make a mark on both sides of a single corner at 2½”. Score across here. Do this same thing on the corner opposite. You should have score lines that look something like this picture.
Cutting and Assembly
Cut down the 2 score lines to the first score line on opposite sides. You are cutting down next to the corners without the extra score lines.
If you are cutting cardstock that you scored without the envelope punch board, cut the same way. You are cutting down the score lines without the extra score lines down to the center square. Leave the center square in tact. The only extra thing you need to do is cut out the 4 tiny triangles on either side of the extra scored area. (See red “x’s” in above picture.)
For both scoring methods, the rest of the instructions are the same. Fold the 2 “wings” together and adhere them so they form a straight line across the top of the basket. Do the same to the other side.
Next, fold the two pointed ends of the basket where you have the extra score lines. Fold these down and adhere them to the inside of the basket. What’s left are the two sides. You’ll need to score these with a stylus where they meet the sides. Fold these down to the inside of the basket and adhere. Attach the handle and decorate. You’re done!
So in just a few minutes you were able to make a charming little Easter Basket using the Envelope Punch Board. It is an easy and quick project you can do with kids. Get out some flowers and doilies to decorate it. Have some fun!
